Privacy and confidentiality

As part of my practice, I comply with the General Data Protection Act (GDPR), which protects your personal data.

As a data controller, I am registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the independent regulator which oversees and upholds the protection of personal data by companies in the UK.

As a client you can be assured that I will:

• Collate and hold your data securely, to include our agreement, notes on our sessions, any contact details and your medical history

• Not sell or disclose your data to any third party

• Not hold your data for longer than is necessary

• Allow you access to your data upon request

As a member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP), I also abide by its Ethical Framework, which sets out guidelines around confidentiality.

In line with this, I may only break confidentiality in specific circumstances, for example in the event of disclosure of potential harm to self or to others and following a discussion with you, the client.
